About Us

MISSION & VALUES

As Friends of the Multnomah Safe Rest Village (SRV), our mission is to help make the Multnomah Safe Rest Village a success for our neighbors inside the SRV as well as for housed neighbors, through strong and positive neighborhood support!

We respect the humanity and dignity of people experiencing houselessness, and we reject false and harmful stereotypes of these people. We believe that housing is a human right.

The Friends founding members include:

Robin Schauffler lives in Multnomah Village. She has written for Street Roots, and is on the board of Street Books.

Chris Dearth has lived with his family in Multnomah for 30 years.

Katy Rustvold has worked in faith based community organizing initiatives on both the east and west sides of Portland for the past ten years. She is a life-long Portlander, and she and her family have lived in Southwest Portland since 2009.
